About the event
✨ QUEER PLAY READING 🌙
Are you a queer actor bored of not seeing yourself represented on stage? Are you a theatre student tired of reading plays that don’t reflect you? Do you want to expand your knowledge of queer playwrights and diversify your bookshelf? Do you want to meet other thespians and chat about plays? Maybe you just want to sit back and listen to a play being read?
If you answered yes to any or all of these, come along to our new Queer Play Reading night.
We will read a play, have a biscuit (or 3) and share our thoughts and questions. This month, we will be reading…
🍋 PINK LEMONADE by MIKA ONYX JOHNSON 🍋
“Just when Mika was starting to feel at home in their own body, they find themselves caught between Simmi who’s sweet like sugar but ain’t a lesbian and Token Toni who loves a bitta bashment and only dates black and brown butches – how can they catch a break when straight women are like junk food?”
CW: Strong language / Homophobic language used / Explicit descriptions of sex/ Misgendering and deadnaming / Reference to hard drug use
This event is ticketed at £3 https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/queer-play-reading-tickets-317648353777.
This event will platform queer stories and queer voices, but we encourage allies to come along too.
Everyone is welcome.
If you would like to read a part, please book a ticket and then email us at nocturnalartsglasgow@gmail.com with the subject line PINK LEMONADE, and request to read ❤️ If you do not get a chance to read this month, do not worry, listening is just as powerful and there will be lots of opportunities in the future ✨
